President Akufo-Addo has made a significant contribution to the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) by donating laptops and desktop computers to the institution. This gesture is a personal donation from the President to support the university’s efforts in equipping its offices with modern technology.
The donation was made on Monday, July 29, after the university conferred a doctorate on President Akufo-Addo during a special congregation. This honor was in recognition of the President’s commitment to education and his contributions to the growth of UHAS.
The university’s management expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for his unwavering support, citing his introduction of free senior high school education and STEM programs as transformative initiatives in the country’s education sector. President Akufo-Addo’s donation aims to bridge the technological gap in the university’s offices, enhancing the work environment and productivity of staff and students.
In September 2021, President Akufo-Addo cut the sod for the construction of phase two of the university, a US$60 million project funded by the Government of Ghana with support from the People’s Republic of China. After the special congregation, President Akufo-Addo commissioned the newly built facility, which houses the school of midwifery and nursing. This state-of-the-art edifice is the largest of its kind in West Africa.
The school of midwifery and nursing is a testament to the President’s commitment to investing in Ghana’s healthcare and education infrastructure. President Akufo-Addo’s support for UHAS has been instrumental in positioning the institution as a leading science-focused university in the country.
