Uber and BYD Partner To Boost Electric Vehicle Adoption

Ride-hailing giant Uber has announced a strategic partnership with Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer BYD to deploy 100,000 BYD EVs into its global fleet.

The collaboration aims to accelerate the transition to electric mobility and provide drivers with incentives to switch to electric vehicles.

The multi-year agreement will initially focus on European and Latin American markets, with plans to expand to the Middle East, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Both companies will work together to reduce the overall cost of EV ownership for drivers through discounts on maintenance, charging, financing, and leasing.

Beyond vehicle integration, Uber and BYD will explore opportunities to incorporate BYD’s self-driving technology into the Uber platform.

This partnership marks a significant step forward for the electrification of urban transportation.

The announcement comes as BYD continues to expand its global footprint with new manufacturing facilities in Turkey, Thailand, and Hungary.

The company aims to become a leading player in the global EV market, challenging the dominance of Tesla.
