Revised Curfew Hours Announced for Bawku
- The curfew in Bawku Municipality and its environs has been changed to 10 pm to 4 am
- The government is urging residents of Bawku to remain calm and peaceful
- Carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapon is prohibited in Bawku
Henry Quartey, the Minister for the Interior, has announced a revision to the curfew hours in Bawku Municipality and surrounding areas, as advised by the Upper East Regional Security Council and enacted by Executive Instrument.
The new curfew will be in effect from 10:00 pm to 4:00 am starting Tuesday, July 30, 2024.
The government urges local chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth, and residents to remain calm and address their issues through peaceful means to foster stability in the region.
Additionally, a strict ban is in place prohibiting the possession of firearms, ammunition, or any other offensive weapons in Bawku and its surrounding areas.
The Interior Ministry has warned that individuals caught with such items will face arrest and prosecution.
