Speaking before the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Mahama highlighted Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s commitment to Ghana’s development and her decades of experience.

He emphasized her track record of achievements, particularly in transforming Ghana’s educational system, making her the ideal partner to help reset the country on the path of progress. Mahama cited Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s leadership in constructing over 2,000 school projects, reducing schools under trees, and creating a conducive learning environment.

He also credited her for introducing progressively free education, automatic posting of teachers, and eliminating the quota system at Colleges of Education. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in her and promised to work hard to ensure victory for the NDC in the December 7 general election.

The President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, Odeefo Amoakwa Buadu VIII, commended Mahama for choosing an indigene of the region as his running mate. Mahama pledged to continue with the dualisation of the Kasoa-Winneba road to Cape Coast, a project estimated to cost nearly $180 million.

He noted the importance of the project in making road travel easier and reducing traffic congestion, and promised to secure funding to accelerate work on the dualisation project. Mahama’s commitment to completing the project and developing the Central Region was well-received by the chiefs, who urged the NDC to prioritize the region’s development when elected.
