Parliament has been abruptly adjourned without a set date to reconvene.
The decision follows a heated debate over a proposed $250 million loan for the energy sector, which the minority successfully opposed.
The house had been busy passing several bills, including those aimed at promoting gender equality and regulating the shipping and national service sectors. The Finance Minister also presented an update on the national budget.
However, the sudden adjournment has sparked controversy.
While the Speaker cited the minority’s victory in the loan vote as the reason, the majority leader has disputed this, vowing to reconvene Parliament legally.
