Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has become a club owner, acquiring a majority stake in Ligue 2 side Caen.
Mbappe’s investment firm, Coalition Capital, has purchased the controlling interest in the Normandy-based club from Oaktree Capital Management. The 25-year-old reportedly invested around €15 million of his own money into the deal.
Caen finished sixth in Ligue 2 last season and will begin their campaign to return to the top flight on August 17. Mbappe, meanwhile, is set to make his Real Madrid debut the following day.
The acquisition marks a significant investment in French football for the young superstar and is seen as a strategic move to expand his business interests.
Mbappe’s involvement is expected to bring increased attention and resources to Caen as they aim to climb back into Ligue 1.
