Renowned actress and television personality Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono, is set to launch her memoir on August 7, 2024. The announcement was made during a celebratory event held at Silverbird Cinemas in Accra on July 30, 2024.

The occasion marked both Omaboe’s 80th birthday and her remarkable 60-year career in the Ghanaian film industry. In videos shared by Metro TV on social media, Omaboe revealed that her forthcoming book will offer an in-depth look into her life.

The memoir will cover a range of personal and professional experiences, including details about delivering all six of her children via C-section, her interactions with former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, and her extensive career in the movie industry.

Grace Omaboe, known affectionately as Maame Dokono, has made significant contributions to Ghanaian entertainment. She began her career in the 1970s as a writer and actress on GTV, gaining prominence through her roles in the television series Obra and the children’s program By The Fire Side. Her film career includes acclaimed performances in both Akan and English films, such as Kwaku Ananse and Children of the Mountain.

In addition to her entertainment career, Omaboe ventured into politics, running for parliament with the NDC in 2000 and 2004 before joining the NPP in 2008. She exited politics in 2016, citing challenges and a lack of integrity in the political sphere. Omaboe also managed the Peace and Love Orphanage, now known as Graceful Grace School.

Omaboe’s family includes six children, with two residing in the US, two in the Netherlands, and two in Ghana. In 2017, she was appointed President of the Golden Movie Awards Africa jury. Her extensive filmography features works such as I Surrender, Matters of the Heart, and John and John.
