Klopp Rules Out England Job, Howe Denies Interest

Story Highlights
  • Klopp ruled out taking the England job
  • Howe also distanced himself from the England role
  • Southgate will not play the Ireland match

Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has emphatically ruled out taking the England job, dismissing speculation as “the biggest loss of face in the history of football”.

Klopp, who left Liverpool at the end of last season, has been linked with the vacant England managerial position following Gareth Southgate’s departure. However, the German coach has reaffirmed his desire for a break from management.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has also distanced himself from the England role, stating he has had no contact from the Football Association and remains fully committed to his current club.

As the search for Southgate’s successor continues, other names in the frame include England Under-21 manager Lee Carsley, former Chelsea boss Graham Potter, and Thomas Tuchel.

England’s first match without Southgate will be against the Republic of Ireland in September.
