Govt to Equip Districts with Road Construction Machinery – Bawumia
- Each district will receive a comprehensive set of road construction machinery
- The DRIP will be funded through the District Assembly Common Fund
- Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the DRIP represents a significant policy shift
Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has unveiled the government’s plan to provide Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with advanced earth-moving equipment to enhance road construction efforts nationwide.
The new District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) aims to empower local assemblies by facilitating infrastructure development, including road construction projects.
This initiative, supported by the District Assembly Common Fund and various donor partners, is set to tackle numerous infrastructure challenges faced by MMDAs.
Speaking at a rally in Wulensi, Northern Region, Dr. Bawumia highlighted DRIP as a transformative initiative. “We are introducing a new policy, the District Road Improvement Programme, which will ensure that each district receives a set of road construction equipment. I’m pleased to announce that all ordered equipment has arrived, and each district will be equipped with an excavator, backhoe loader, wheel loader, compact roller, and tipper truck,” Dr. Bawumia declared.
