Chelsea have bolstered their goalkeeping options with the signing of 22-year-old Filip Jorgensen from Villarreal.
The Danish stopper has penned a seven-year deal with the Blues, marking a significant investment in the future of the club.
Jorgensen impressed last season as Villarreal’s first-choice goalkeeper, making 37 appearances. The young keeper is now set to compete with Robert Sanchez for the number one spot at Stamford Bridge.
Born in Sweden but representing Denmark at international level, Jorgensen joined Villarreal’s youth academy at the age of 15. He progressed through the ranks to make his senior debut in 2020 and established himself as a first-team regular last season.
Jorgensen has already linked up with his new teammates, joining Chelsea’s pre-season tour in the United States. He could feature in the Blues’ remaining friendly matches against Club America, Manchester City, and Real Madrid.
The Dane’s arrival adds depth to Chelsea’s goalkeeping department as they prepare for the new Premier League season, which kicks off with a challenging match against champions Manchester City.
