The Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) is inviting film entries from across the continent to mark its 20th-anniversary ceremony. The awards, celebrating two decades of honoring African cinema, have extended their submission deadline to August 10, 2024, to accommodate late entries.
Founded by the late Peace Anyiam Osigwe, whose vision was to elevate African storytelling through cinema, AMAA has become a prestigious platform for recognizing and promoting excellence in the film industry. Anyiam Osigwe’s dedication and efforts have significantly contributed to the growth of Nollywood and the broader African film industry.
The AMAA has always aimed to highlight the creativity and hard work of African filmmakers globally, fostering a vibrant network of industry professionals. This year’s milestone celebration will pay tribute to Osigwe’s legacy, acknowledging her role in providing a platform that bridges industry veterans with emerging talents.
Submissions are now open for feature films, short films, documentaries, and other categories produced and released between January 2023 and July 2024. Interested filmmakers can submit their works via the AMAA’s submission portal at FilmFreeway using the waiver code AMAA2024code.
