The UK government issued a stark warning on Tuesday, advising its citizens to evacuate Lebanon immediately due to rapidly escalating tensions along the Israeli border.

Foreign Secretary David Lammy informed Parliament of frequent artillery exchanges and airstrikes in the region, emphasizing the heightened risk and potential for a swift deterioration of the situation.

While consular teams are on standby, Lammy stressed that the government cannot guarantee the immediate evacuation of all British nationals in the event of a conflict escalation, and citizens may be forced to shelter in place.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer convened an emergency COBRA meeting earlier in the day to address the crisis.

Lammy issued a direct plea to British nationals in Lebanon: “Leave the country now.”
