Kamala Harris’s presidential campaign has announced significant fundraising and volunteer gains in the week since she became the Democratic Party’s candidate.
According to her campaign, Harris has raised $200 million and added 170,000 new volunteers. Notably, 66% of the donations came from new contributors.
The campaign’s progress comes as Harris prepares to face Republican candidate Donald Trump in the November 5 election. Recent polls, including a Reuters/Ipsos survey, indicate a tight race between Harris and Trump.
In terms of fundraising, Trump’s campaign reported raising $331 million in the second quarter, surpassing the $264 million raised by Biden’s campaign and its Democratic allies.
Trump’s campaign had $284.9 million in cash on hand at the end of June, compared to the Democratic campaign’s $240 million.
Harris has secured majority support from Democratic National Convention delegates, making her the likely nominee for president next month. The official vote is scheduled for August 1.
