Ghanaian midfielder, Lawrence Agyekum, marked his Belgian Jupiler Pro League debut with a full 90-minute performance for Cercle Brugge over the weekend.
Unfortunately, the former WAFA prodigy’s first taste of top-flight Belgian football ended in a disappointing defeat.
Partnering with fellow Ghanaian and Black Stars midfielder, Abu Francis, in the Cercle Brugge midfield, Agyekum played a crucial role in the team’s setup.
The 20-year-old joined the club on loan from Red Bull Salzburg during the summer transfer window and has quickly integrated into the squad.
This league appearance comes on the heels of Agyekum’s European debut, where he came on as a substitute in Cercle Brugge’s Europa League qualifier against Kilmarnock.
With Agyekum joining 10 other Ghanaian players in the Belgian top flight, the league promises to be an exciting platform for the young talent to showcase his abilities.
