Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has announced that the proposed credit scoring system in Ghana will facilitate easier access to essential goods and services for citizens.
According to Dr. Bawumia, this system will enable Ghanaians to purchase vital items such as cars and mobile phones with greater ease and obtain loans at lower interest rates.
He attributed the feasibility of this initiative to the successful issuance of the Ghana Card, the merging of databases, and the significant growth of financial inclusion through mobile money interoperability.
Dr. Bawumia highlighted the benefits of a credit scoring system, citing examples from advanced nations where individuals can obtain mobile phones for free with a two or three-year contract, subject to their credit score.
He emphasized that his vision for Ghana’s future, including the implementation of a credit scoring system, is achievable, contrary to criticisms from his opponents.
Dr. Bawumia shared his vision with constituents in Lambussie, Nandom, and Lawra as part of his nationwide campaign.
