Police officers from the Greater Accra Region reportedly fired live rounds to disperse a crowd in the Domeabra community during a recent operation.

The confrontation erupted when residents of Domeabra and Danchira clashed with police and alleged land guards from Accra, who were attempting to evict them from contested land.

Affected locals told Adom News that an individual named Asare is asserting ownership over a large portion of the Danchira and Domeabra communities.

The situation escalated when enraged youths blocked the road, preventing the police and land guards from exiting the area, leading to the police firing shots to control the situation.

Supi of Domeabra, Nii Supi Ashaley, stated that Asare’s claims to the land, which extend from Danchira into Domeabra, lack a court order and are thus illegal. He urged the government to intervene and halt the unlawful eviction.

In response, Ebenezer Ahotor, Assemblyman for the Danchira Electoral Area, condemned the police action and called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to take steps to prevent further violence.
