Rapper Stormzy Pleads Guilty to Driving with Illegally Tinted Windows

British rapper Stormzy, born Michael Ebenazer Owuo Junior, has pleaded guilty to charges related to driving a Lamborghini with illegally tinted windows during a court hearing at Lavender Hill Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

According to the charge sheet, Stormzy admitted to driving the Lamborghini Urus on Coombe Lane in Kingston upon Thames around 14:45 BST on October 17, 2023. The documents specified that the front two windows of the vehicle allowed only 4% of light through, well below the legal requirement of a minimum 70%, which poses a safety risk by impairing visibility.

Despite residing in Kingston upon Thames, Stormzy did not appear in court for the hearing.

In addition to the tinted window charge, Stormzy faces allegations of driving a Rolls-Royce Wraith while using a handheld phone. The incident allegedly occurred shortly after 15:30 GMT on March 7 on Addison Road in west Kensington.

Rolls-Royce Wraiths typically fetch prices starting from £250,000, while Lamborghini Urus models are priced just under £200,000, according to online vehicle marketplace Auto Trader.

The court proceedings have been adjourned until October 16 for further deliberation on the case.

This legal development follows Stormzy’s recent announcement, made alongside Love Island presenter Maya Jama on Instagram, confirming their breakup just a week prior to the court appearance.
