Mohbad’s Family Conducts Second Autopsy to Unravel Cause of Death

The family of Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has conducted a second autopsy to determine the cause of his death. The procedure was ordered by Ms. T.A. Shotobi, Magistrate of the Coroner Court, as part of an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the artist’s passing.
According to a statement signed by Monisola Odumosu, a member of the family’s legal team, the autopsy was performed on July 19 and 20. If the post-mortem examination fails to reveal the cause of death, the family plans to conduct toxicology and histology tests on the necessary samples.
This development follows a court order issued on June 26, 2024, granting Joseph Aloba, Mohbad’s father, permission to commission an independent autopsy by a licensed pathologist. The court ordered Mr. Aloba to bear all costs associated with the examination.
The comprehensive procedure was witnessed by a limited group, including Mr. Joseph Aloba, the appointed forensic pathologist and his team, and Aloba’s legal representatives. Wunmi Aloba, the deceased’s wife, was represented by her legal team and appointed pathologist.
The Coroner Court has reaffirmed its commitment to a thorough and transparent investigation to determine the cause of Mohbad’s death, aiming to provide closure for the family and maintain the integrity of the judicial process. Further updates are expected following the completion of the second part of the autopsy, if deemed necessary.
Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, under controversial circumstances. A previous autopsy attempt on May 15 was inconclusive due to the body’s decomposition.
