Veteran actress Auntie Bee has candidly shared her stark reality of financial struggle despite decades devoted to her acting career.
In a revealing interview, she disclosed that acting had been her sole profession and passion, even foregoing starting a family to pursue her love for the craft.
“I was fully occupied with set life and didn’t learn a trade or other skills,” Auntie Bee lamented, reflecting on decisions that now haunt her in her later years.
She emphasized the harsh truth of time slipping away, regretting that after over 40 years in the industry, her achievements primarily amount to fame without substantial material wealth.
“I have nothing to show for it,” she asserted, highlighting that even her first international travel opportunity came through football, not acting. She mentioned that personal possessions like cars were gifts rather than earnings from her career.
Following the decline of Kumawood, she revealed resorting to selling minor items to make ends meet.
Addressing aspiring actors, Auntie Bee advised them to secure supplementary income to sustain themselves, urging caution about the unpredictable nature of the industry.
