RTU Hit With Heavy Sanctions For Fielding Unregistered Players

Real Tamale United (RTU) has been slapped with a hefty GHC 100,000 fine for fielding unregistered players in their humiliating 8-1 defeat to Dreams FC in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League.

The Northern-based club’s registered players had boycotted the match due to six months of unpaid salaries and bonuses, forcing the club to field an unregistered team.

In addition to the financial penalty, five club officials, including the coach, team doctor, and team manager, have been banned for a year.

RTU’s relegation to the Division One League has been confirmed, but the club faces an uncertain future with most players, including captain Baba Kushibo, already departing.
