Dr. Kwaku Afriyie, the Member of Parliament for Sefwi-Wiawso, has distanced himself from an apology issued by Majority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh following his ejection from Parliament by Speaker Alban Bagbin.

The altercation arose during discussions on President Akufo-Addo’s nominations to the Supreme Court, where Dr. Afriyie contested Speaker Bagbin’s authority to comment on the matter.

Disagreeing with the Speaker’s stance led to Dr. Afriyie’s removal, labeled by Bagbin as “rude” and “disrespectful.”

Despite the apology extended by Annoh-Dompreh on behalf of the caucus, Dr. Afriyie insisted he had committed no offense and had not authorized any apology, asserting that his comments were not offensive nor disrespectful towards Speaker Bagbin.
