Hasaacas Ladies are facing a significant hurdle as they prepare to defend their title in the WAFU B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
The Sekondi-based club, who made history by reaching the final of the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League, are facing a player shortage due to national team call-ups.
Six key players have been selected for the Black Princesses squad preparing for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, and the situation is further complicated by the fact that the club’s head coach is also the head coach of the national team.
Hasaacas Ladies’ brand manager, Ohene-Bampoe Brenya, expressed the club’s predicament, stating, “We are heavily hit and in constant communication with the FA to find a solution.” Despite the challenges, the club is committed to supporting the national team’s ambitions.
The qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League are scheduled for August, while the U-20 Women’s World Cup kicks off in late August.
