Ghana’s U-20 women’s team, the Black Princesses, are determined to break their group stage hoodoo at this year’s FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia.
The team has qualified for the competition for a seventh consecutive time but has yet to progress beyond the first round.
Head coach Yussif Basigi, who previously led the team in 2018, is determined to change this.
Speaking at a pre-tournament media briefing, Basigi acknowledged the team’s past struggles but expressed optimism about their chances this time around. “We are fully aware of our past performance and the need to improve,” he said. “The team is motivated and ready to make a mark on the tournament.”
The Black Princesses have been in camp for three weeks as they prepare for the global stage.
