President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is scheduled to commission a 320-unit housing project for the Ghana Police Service on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at the National Police Training School in Tesano, Accra. The project, which began in 2018, is a significant milestone in the government’s efforts to address the housing needs of public service workers.
The housing project comprises seven blocks of two-bedroom apartments and thirteen blocks of three-bedroom apartments, with each block containing sixteen units. In addition to the residential units, the project features a multipurpose sports facility, a kindergarten school, and other auxiliary residential facilities.
The project’s completion and utilization will augment the government’s other housing programs aimed at increasing the residential stock for public service workers.
According to a press release dated Friday, July 19, 2024, and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Works and Housing, Elvis Adjei-Baah, the project’s completion is a testament to the government’s commitment to addressing the housing deficit in the country.
The commissioning ceremony will be attended by high-ranking government officials, members of the Ghana Police Service, and other stakeholders in the housing sector. The Ministry emphasized that this initiative is a critical step towards reducing accommodation challenges in Ghana’s urban areas, which will ultimately bridge the national housing deficit of 1.8 million units.
