Smita Srivastava, a 46-year-old woman from Uttar Pradesh, has earned the Guinness World Record for having the longest hair on a living person. Her remarkable locks measure an impressive 7 feet 9 inches in length.
Ms. Srivastava, who has not cut her hair since the age of 14, is proud of her achievement and hopes to gain more recognition for her extraordinary tresses. “I love my hair so much,” she told Guinness World Records. “I used to dream about holding a world record title and God answered my prayers.”
According to Guinness World Records, Ms. Srivastava spends up to three hours washing, drying, detangling, and styling her hair, which she usually does twice a week. She uses natural herbs and ingredients like egg, onion juice, and Aloe Vera to care for her hair, avoiding artificial shampoos and conditioners.
Ms. Srivastava’s inspiration for growing her hair comes from her family and 80’s Hindi cinema. “In our society, long hair announces the beauty of women,” she explained. “I hope to continue growing my hair as long as I can manage it. I will never cut my hair and I will keep growing it.”
The world record holder also revealed that she collects her lost hair and has a huge collection. “I have not thrown out any hair in the past 20 years,” she said. “I started crying because I had lost so much hair.”
