The 12th edition of the Guinness Ghana DJ Awards has been officially launched at the Multimedia Group Limited premises on Saturday, June 20, 2024. The event saw a dazzling display of talents in Ghana’s disc jockey industry.
Produced by Merqury Republic, this year’s edition is partnered with Joy Prime as the official media partner. Emily Nyarko, Channel Manager of Joy Prime, expressed her excitement about the partnership, stating that it aligns perfectly with their vision to showcase and elevate Ghana’s diverse musical landscape.
“We are elated to partner with the prestigious Guinness Ghana DJ Awards and promise to deliver an ultimate experience to our viewers,” she said.
Guinness Ghana, the headline sponsor, also expressed their appreciation for supporting the event for the second time. Nana Yaa Amoah Owusu, Marketing Manager for the Spirit and RTDs category, highlighted their aim to promote female DJs this year.
“We want to put the spotlight on the female DJ fraternity while ensuring we help build capacity,” she said. To achieve this, they will be holding an all-female DJ concert to uncover and celebrate the dexterity of females in the sector.
The coordinator for Merqury Republic, David Quaye, outlined the activities leading up to the main event, including the Pub Festival, Ghana DJ Clinic, and the reintroduced regional category.
The awards scheme recognizes the efforts and hard work of DJs in Ghana and Africa, with categories such as Best DJ of the Year, Afrobeat DJ of the Year, Female DJ of the Year, and Event DJ of the Year.
Themed “United by Music,” the 2024 edition promises to be more enthralling, bringing together DJs across Ghana and Africa. The main awards ceremony is scheduled for November 9, and fans are encouraged to join the celebration of Ghana’s finest DJs.
The 2024 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards is powered by Smirnoff and supported by Electroland Ghana Limited (EGL), Korba, Franko Trading Enterprise, and the Ghana Library Authority, with additional support from Ezzy Grab GH, Whatsup TV, and Dennis Pizza. Other media partners include Joy Prime, Joy FM, and Adom TV.
