Mahama criticizes NPP’s claim that Akufo-Addo’s govt is the best.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has strongly criticized the Akufo-Addo government for causing the current economic crisis in Ghana. He made these comments during a mini durbar with the Chiefs and Elders of La-Bawuleshie and Mempeasem in the Ayawaso West Constituency on Thursday, July 18.

Mahama expressed his disappointment, stating that the government’s inability to acknowledge the economic crisis is a significant concern. He emphasized that the government’s denial of the crisis is a clear indication that they do not understand the severity of the situation.

The former president pointed out that the government’s claim of being the best government in Ghana’s history, even comparing themselves to the legendary Kwame Nkrumah, is a testament to their lack of understanding. He argued that if they truly comprehended the situation, they would take immediate action to alleviate the suffering of Ghanaians.

Mahama emphasized that with only five months left until the election, the government has ample time to implement urgent measures to improve the economic situation. He questioned the government’s reluctance to take action, suggesting that they are more focused on making promises for the future rather than addressing the present challenges.

He criticized the government’s approach, stating that they are asking Ghanaians to vote for them before they take any action. Mahama argued that this approach is unacceptable, as the government has had ample time to demonstrate their commitment to improving the economy.

The NDC flagbearer emphasized that the government’s promises to rationalize taxes and implement other reforms are nothing more than empty promises. He challenged the government to take immediate action, rather than waiting for the election to be over.

Mahama reminded the audience that the government’s actions in 2016, which led to their electoral victory, cannot be repeated. He emphasized that Ghanaians are now more aware of the government’s failures and will not be easily swayed by empty promises.

The former president’s comments were met with applause from the audience, who were clearly concerned about the current state of the economy. Mahama’s message resonated with many, who are eager for change and improvement in their living conditions.

Mahama’s criticism of the Akufo-Addo government’s handling of the economy highlights the need for urgent action to address the current crisis. His message to the government is clear: take immediate action to improve the economy, rather than making empty promises for the future.
