The Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB) Ghana inducted 237 new banking professionals at its 15th Induction Ceremony, marking a historic achievement.
This year’s inductees were 51% female, solidifying the institute’s commitment to gender parity in the banking sector.
This induction builds upon last year’s record-breaking ceremony, where females comprised 52% of inductees. Over the past four and a half years, CIB Ghana has inducted a total of 1,017 professionals.
The ceremony, held under the theme “Ethics, Sustainability and Professionalism,” underscored the importance of these values in a robust banking industry. Guest of Honor, Victor Yaw Asante, Managing Director and CEO of First Bank Ghana, commended the inductees’ depth, diversity, and quality.
Mr. Asante emphasized the critical role of ethics in building trust and long-term success within the banking sector. He shared his own career experiences, rooted in integrity and transparency, and urged the inductees to uphold ethical conduct to safeguard their institutions and careers.
Drawing parallels with Rotary International’s core value of ethics, Mr. Asante encouraged the new bankers to embrace principles like truthfulness, fairness, and acting in the best interests of others.
Maintaining a trustworthy and reputable banking environment hinges on respectful and fair practices with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders, Mr. Asante stressed. He concluded by emphasizing the absolute importance of ethical behavior, especially considering past ethical lapses that necessitated the financial sector clean-up in Ghana.
This year’s CIB Ghana induction ceremony signifies a significant step forward for gender parity and ethical conduct within the Ghanaian banking industry.
