“Asanteman’s Socio-Economic Growth Will Determine Our Votes, Kumasi Market Women Warn NPP”

Traders at the Racecourse Market in the Ashanti Region have issued a stern warning to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). They say they will vote against the party in the upcoming election if it fails to deliver on its promises of socio-economic development in the region.

The traders are frustrated with the party’s lack of attention to their needs, particularly the stalled market projects in the region. Despite their consistent support for the party, they feel neglected and disappointed.

Market leader, Christabel Amoah, addressed the press and expressed her distress over the abandoned market projects. “We voted the NPP into power 8 years ago, but we haven’t seen any development. Traders across the city are left stranded. Markets in the city have been abandoned.”

The traders are specifically unhappy about the state of the Krofrom market, which has been abandoned for years. “NAPO has been MP for 16 years and the abandoned Krofrom market is an issue he could have addressed, but he didn’t. We don’t expect him to address our problems now that he has been appointed as running mate.”

The traders were evacuated from their original location to make way for the construction of the second phase of the Kejetia redevelopment project. However, they have been left to struggle with a makeshift trading center at the Racecourse.

The roads leading to the market center are in a deplorable state, affecting economic activities. The traders are calling on the government to complete the market projects and address their concerns before the elections.

The appointment of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as running mate to the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has not impressed the traders. They feel that his appointment is a mere political move and does not guarantee any development in the region.

The traders are determined to take their fate into their own hands and will advise themselves if the party fails to deliver on its promises. “We will vote for candidates who will promote socio-economic development in Asanteman,” said Christabel Amoah. The NPP government has been put on notice, and it remains to be seen whether they will take the traders’ concerns seriously and address them before the elections.

The fate of the NPP in the upcoming election hangs in the balance, as the traders’ votes are crucial to the party’s success. Will the government deliver on its promises and secure the traders’ votes, or will the traders make good on their threat and vote against the party? Only time will tell.
