President Appoints Afenyo-Markin As ECG Board Chairman

Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appointed Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, the Member of Parliament for Effutu and Majority Leader, as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG).

This appointment, announced in a letter dated July 16, 2024, replaces Herbert Krapa, who has been appointed Minister of State at the Energy Ministry.

The letter, signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo, instructs the Energy Minister to take necessary steps to effect the nomination in accordance with the Companies Act and the company’s regulations.

Afenyo-Markin took over as Majority Leader from Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who resigned from the position on February 21, 2024.
