Nigerian Man Shatters GWR with 75-Hour Soccer Videogame Marathon
A 24-year-old Nigerian man, Oside Oluwole, also known as “Khoded,” has made history by continuously playing a soccer videogame for an unprecedented 75 hours, shattering the previous record of 50 hours set by David Whitefoot in 2022.
Oluwole, a qualified biochemist and car dealer, undertook this remarkable feat to raise funds for a local hospital in his hometown of Ijebu Ode. Unlike previous record holders, he played the mobile game Dream League Soccer 2023 on his iPhone, connected to a TV screen, completing over 500 matches during his record attempt.
As per the rules for “longest marathon” records, Oluwole accumulated five minutes of rest time after each hour of gaming, allowing him to eat, nap, or use the toilet during these breaks. Despite the challenges, he expressed his enjoyment and gratitude, saying, “I really enjoyed myself playing for 75 hours straight with just some hours of rest… It wasn’t an easy task, but I must say it was all fun.”
Oluwole’s achievement has been recognized by Hon. Seun Adesanya, a member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, who praised his dedication, determination, and mastery of the game. This record-breaking feat has inspired Oluwole to pursue more world records in soccer videogames, including those on consoles like FIFA and PES series.
