Hawa Koomson Alleges NDC Plot to Kill Son

The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has accused the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) of plotting to assassinate her son just a day before he was tragically stabbed. The incident, which occurred during a voter transfer exercise, saw Madam Koomson’s firstborn, Ato Koomson, sustain a serious chest injury allegedly inflicted by an NDC ward organizer.

According to reports, the suspect has since been apprehended and is currently assisting authorities with their investigations. However, in a swift response, the NDC has vehemently defended the suspect, arguing that he acted in self-defense to ward off an attack from Mr. Koomson’s supporters.

The accusation was made public by Hawa Koomson during a Peace Talk event aimed at mediating disputes between the NDC and the NPP within the constituency, held at the Kasoa Odikro Palace. Addressing attendees, which included local leaders and community members, Madam Koomson, who also serves as the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, revealed that she had received prior intelligence regarding the alleged assassination plot.

“I had received information about the NDC’s plan to kill my son,” she asserted. Despite sharing this information with the Police beforehand, Madam Koomson expressed disappointment over the failure to preemptively detain the suspect. She further disclosed that she had personally identified the suspect to law enforcement officers on the eve of the incident, only to discover later that he was the same individual involved in the attack on her son.

Meanwhile, responding to calls for peace and reconciliation, Stephen Ofosu Agyari, the Awutu Senya East NDC Constituency Chairman, pledged to engage with party members to foster a conducive atmosphere for a peaceful electoral process.
