Dengue Fever Outbreak: 36 More Cases Confirmed in Eastern and Central Regions

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed 36 cases of Dengue Fever in the Eastern and Central regions, as of July 17, 2024. Fortunately, only one patient was hospitalized and has since been discharged, while the remaining patients are being managed at home and are in stable condition.

The GHS is urging the public to be aware of the symptoms of Dengue Fever, which include sudden onset of high-grade fever, severe headache, muscle, bone, and joint pains, nausea and/or vomiting, and rash.

In response to the outbreak, the GHS is conducting ongoing activities to control the spread of the disease. These activities include clinician orientation on case definitions, stakeholder meetings with District Health Management Teams, Municipal/District Chief Executives, and local chiefs, as well as risk communication in affected districts.

The GHS is working to ensure that the public is informed and protected from the spread of Dengue Fever.
