Chief of Nahinso Arrested for Undertaking Road Works Without Permission

Nana Addo Boaman, the Chief of Nahinso, was taken into custody by officials from the Asokwa Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region for carrying out road works without obtaining the necessary permission. He was later released on bail over the weekend.

According to the Chief, the road in question had been causing flooding in the area, and despite repeated appeals, the authorities failed to address the issue. Frustrated by the situation, he took the initiative to fill pits created by alleged sand-winning activities and repair the road to make it usable.

“The road construction had been abandoned after the drains were built, worsening the road’s condition,” the Chief explained. “I couldn’t just sit back and watch my people suffer, so I decided to take matters into my own hands.”

However, officials from the Asokwa Municipal Assembly stopped him, claiming that he had no permission to carry out the road works. The Chief insists that he will continue his efforts to fix the road despite the arrest and persistent opposition.

“I will not be deterred by this arrest,” the Chief said. “I am determined to find a solution to this problem, even if it means going it alone.”
