- It aims to instill valuable life skills
Former boxing champion Azumah Nelson, known as “The Professor,” has launched a new youth development program called the Zoom Zoom Clinics.
The initiative, partnered with GCB Bank, government ministries, and boxing federations, aims to empower young people through mentorship, boxing training, and community engagement.
Kicked off on July 4th in Accra, the clinics will span four regions – Northern, Central, Ashanti, and Greater Accra. Nelson, passionate about giving back, seeks to offer more than just physical training.
“Looking at today’s youth, I don’t see the same drive and dedication I had,” Nelson said. “This program is about Ghana’s future. We need to equip our youth with the skills and discipline to become strong leaders.”
Highlighting the importance of hard work and respect, Nelson emphasized, “Success requires effort, and respect paves the way. These are life lessons, not just boxing lessons.”
The initiative received government backing, with Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif pledging support. “The government is committed to this program’s success,” Ussif declared, “and will provide the necessary financial resources.”
The Zoom Zoom Clinics aim to instill valuable life skills, promote health and fitness, and build resilience and discipline in Ghana’s youth.
