  • The scarcity of t-shirts has sparked anger among traders
  • Traders appealed to NAPO and NPP leadership to ensure a sufficient supply of t-shirts

Several traders at Kumasi Central Market, staunch supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have voiced dissatisfaction with the party’s inadequate provision of t-shirts during the unveiling of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO, as the Ashanti Region running mate.

According to the traders, the scarcity of t-shirts has angered many, who are now considering abstaining from voting in the upcoming general elections.

In a video shared on X and seen by Kumasi.city, the traders appealed to NAPO and NPP leadership to supply more t-shirts through market leaders to address the grievances.

“When we attended the rally last time, most market women didn’t receive any t-shirts, causing frustration. Some have even threatened not to vote because of this,” one of the market women expressed.

“I urge NAPO and NPP leaders to deliver more t-shirts to me, Ohemaa Mercy, so I can distribute them to the market women. NAPO, we support you wholeheartedly, so we expect more t-shirts,” she stated in Twi.

Another trader, Obaa Yaa, also urged NAPO to ensure t-shirts are available at Mama China’s stall, emphasizing the risk of missing out if they are distributed elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s unveiling ceremony occurred at Kumasi’s Jubilee Park on July 9, 2024, attended by numerous NPP members, marking a significant event in the region.
