The Concerned Youth of the Western Region have rejected the apology issued by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, regarding his controversial comments comparing Kwame Nkrumah and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s achievements. NAPO had stated that no president, including Nkrumah, has developed Ghana like Akufo-Addo since 2017, sparking widespread condemnation.

In response to the backlash, NAPO issued an official apology on July 12, which the Concerned Youth of the Western Region has now rejected. Professor Boakye Yiadom, a member of the group, addressed a press conference in Takoradi, stating that NAPO’s apology was insufficient.

Yiadom emphasized that NAPO’s comments were not merely his opinion, but were made in his capacity as the running mate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. The group believes that NAPO’s comments were deliberate and harmful, and that his apology did not acknowledge the harm caused.

The Concerned Youth of the Western Region demand an unreserved apology from NAPO, urging him to tone down his rhetoric. The group emphasized that NAPO’s comments have perpetuated a harmful narrative and that his apology must acknowledge and rectify this.

The rejection of NAPO’s apology highlights the ongoing controversy surrounding his comments and the demand for accountability. The Concerned Youth of the Western Region remain resolute in their stance, seeking a genuine apology and a commitment to responsible leadership from NAPO and the NPP.
