Professor Kofi Agyekum Criticizes NAPO’s Remarks on Nkrumah

Professor Kofi Agyekum has weighed in on the controversy sparked by Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh’s recent comments about Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, during his unveiling in Kumasi.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh, known as NAPO, drew criticism for his statements which some perceive as disrespectful to Nkrumah’s legacy.

In response, Professor Kofi Agyekum, Head of Linguistics at the University of Ghana, expressed dismay over NAPO’s remarks, questioning their necessity and potential harm to Nkrumah’s reputation.

He emphasized that criticizing Nkrumah is tantamount to disregarding the immense contributions Nkrumah made to Ghana, affecting countless citizens who benefited from his initiatives.

Professor Agyekum condemned NAPO’s comments as lacking in tact and called on the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to provide better guidance to him in the future.

Affectionately known as Opanyin Agyekum, he advised NAPO’s advisors to carefully script his public addresses if necessary, urging, “Sit NAPO down and train him… This should serve as a valuable lesson for him!”
