NAPO Steps Down as Energy Minister

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, has resigned from his position as Energy Minister.

The decision, effective from July 18, 2024, comes following his unveiling as the running mate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has accepted Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s resignation, expressing gratitude for his dedicated service to Ghana. Notably, Opoku Prempeh’s tenure included significant achievements in both the Education and Energy ministries.

In light of his departure, President Akufo-Addo has tasked Hon. Abu Jinapor, MP for Damongo and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, with overseeing the Energy Ministry at the Cabinet level.

Additionally, Herbert Krapa, Minister-of-State-designate at the Energy Ministry, will manage its daily operations. Both are expected to collaborate closely with Opoku Prempeh to ensure a seamless transition.
