In a rare move, ITV2’s Love Island will allow its contestants to watch the Euros final live in the villa this Sunday, July 14. England’s match against Spain will be an exception to the show’s usual rule of cutting off islanders from outside events.
According to Digital Spy, the islanders will be able to watch the game as it happens, but the episode schedule will remain unchanged. Love Island will air at its usual 9pm slot, followed by Aftersun at 10pm.
In related news, BBC soap EastEnders quickly incorporated a reference to England’s semi-final win in a recent episode. Meanwhile, comedian John Bishop faced backlash for rescheduling his Sunday comedy show in Wolverhampton to accommodate the Euros final. Bishop explained on social media, “I know it won’t suit everybody, so anyone who can’t make it we’ll give you a refund… But we’re definitely gonna move the time to Sunday afternoon, cause there’s no chance I’m gonna be doing it at 8 o’clock, cause I’m gonna be busy watching these boys.”
While some criticized the move as “unprofessional,” others defended Bishop, noting that “no one will be wanting to watch his show if they want to see the match themselves.”
Love Island airs on ITV2 and streams on ITVX.
