The Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs has declared war on individuals who illegitimately declare themselves as chiefs, causing chaos in the region. According to the Regional House of Chiefs, some divisional chiefs and priests have taken it upon themselves to create new stools and administer oaths of allegiance to unauthorized persons, who then claim to be chiefs.
This development has been described as a menace that must be dealt with immediately. During a visit from the Greater Accra Regional Security Council, the Acting President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Professor Odaifio Welentsi III, assured that the traditional leaders are determined to put an end to this practice.
Professor Welentsi III explained that some individuals have taken it upon themselves to arrogate powers they do not have, creating new stools and administering oaths of allegiance to unsuspecting persons. He cited instances where some individuals have even gone as far as to prevent paramount chiefs from ascending to their thrones, claiming to be acting presidents.
The Acting President emphasized that these acts of lawlessness have gone unchecked for far too long and must be rooted out. He assured that the Regional House of Chiefs will take all necessary steps to ensure that these illegitimate chiefs are exposed and brought to order.
The Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs has vowed to work closely with the Regional Security Council to achieve this goal. The move has been welcomed by many, who see it as a necessary step to restore order and legitimacy to the traditional leadership in the Greater Accra Region.
