Veteran Nollywood actor Olu Jacobs is celebrating his 82nd birthday today, just two weeks after rumors of his death circulated on social media.
Jacobs’ wife, Joke Silva, took to Instagram to mark the milestone, sharing a video of the actor wearing a customized house coat and praising him with prayers. “82 just like that… Agba ko ni nira l’agbara Jesu. Happy birthday and have an amazing year ahead, my darling… Sir J of life @_olujacobs (loving his customized housecoat),” she wrote.
The post was met with an outpouring of birthday wishes from celebrities and fans, including Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Osas Ighodaro, and Chioma Akpotha. “Happy birthday to a legend, a father to the industry, an outstanding actor, an incredible soul,” Jalade-Ekeinde wrote.
Born on July 11, 1942, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Jacobs studied acting at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London and began his career in the UK before returning to Nigeria in the late 1980s. He has since become a household name in Nollywood, known for his roles in films like “Ashanti,” “The Dogs of War,” and “The Royal Hibiscus Hotel.”
