Professor Smart Sarpong’s recent survey has predicted that Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah will emerge victorious in the Manhyia South Parliamentary Primary. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries are scheduled to take place on Sunday, July 14, in Kumasi.
The primary follows the elevation of the incumbent MP, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate. According to Prof Sarpong’s survey, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah is expected to win the Manhyia South NPP parliamentary primary by at least 70% of the delegates’ votes.
The survey revealed that Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah is seen as the most unifying figure by 72.5% of delegates, the most visible by 73.3%, and the best replacement for Dr. Prempeh by 73.5% of delegates. Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, the Manhyia South Constituency Treasurer and biological brother of Dr. Opoku Prempeh, trailed behind with 21.4% of delegates seeing him as a unifier, 20.7% as visible, and 20.5% as the best replacement for Dr. Prempeh.
Akwasi Coker Gyambibi lagged behind with only 0.5% of delegates seeing him as a unifier, visible, and the best replacement for Dr. Prempeh. Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah’s dominance in the survey is attributed to his strong reputation as a unifying figure, his visibility in the constituency, and his perceived ability to fill the shoes of Dr. Prempeh.
Prof Sarpong’s survey has a proven track record of accuracy, having correctly predicted Dr. Prempeh’s selection as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate weeks ago. The predicted outcome of the primary has generated significant interest in the constituency, with many delegates and party supporters eagerly awaiting the outcome on July 14.
