“Nigerian Association in Ghana Calls on National Security Ministry to Combat Human Trafficking”
- ANC petitions National Security Ministry to combat human trafficking.
- Victims are lured with false job promises and forced into prostitution and cybercrime.
- ANC requests joint task force and hotline to report suspected cases.
- National Security Minister promises to work with ANC to address the issue.
The All Nigerian Associations in Ghana (ANC) has expressed grave concern over the increasing cases of human trafficking from neighboring countries, including Nigeria, into Ghana. The ANC, the apex body of Nigerian associations in Ghana, revealed that young ladies and boys are being lured into the country under false pretenses of employment, only to be forced into illicit activities such as prostitution and cybercrime.
These victims are kept in locked environments, subjected to physical and emotional abuse, and exploited for financial gain. The ANC has described the situation as alarming and requiring urgent attention. To address this issue, the ANC executives paid a courtesy visit to the National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, at his office. They presented a petition to the minister, urging his ministry to partner with the ANC to combat human trafficking.
The ANC believes that a collaborative effort between the two parties can help protect the welfare of Nigerian nationals and the dignity of Ghana. They emphasized the need for a joint task force to clamp down on human trafficking syndicates operating in Ghana.
The National Security Minister, Albert Kan Dapaah, received the petition and assured the ANC executives that his ministry takes the issue of human trafficking seriously. He promised to work closely with the ANC to address the problem. The ANC also requested the minister’s assistance in establishing a hotline for reporting suspected cases of human trafficking. This, they believe, will help victims and their families seek help and support.
The meeting between the ANC and the National Security Minister was seen as a significant step forward in the fight against human trafficking in Ghana. Both parties agreed to work together to protect the rights and dignity of all individuals, regardless of their nationality.
The ANC’s petition to the National Security Ministry has been hailed as a bold move by many in the Nigerian community in Ghana. They see it as a demonstration of the ANC’s commitment to the welfare and safety of its members. The outcome of this collaboration is eagerly awaited, as both parties work together to combat human trafficking and ensure the safety and dignity of all individuals in Ghana.
