Despite a decade passing since his son’s mysterious disappearance, Mr. Coffie Eshun, father of the late hip-life star Castro, remains steadfast in his belief that his son may still be alive.
In an emotional interview on Empire FM on Sunday, July 7, 2024, Mr. Coffie Eshun shared his unwavering faith, citing his religious beliefs as the source of his hope. He also raised suspicions of foul play surrounding Castro’s disappearance, which occurred on July 6, 2014, during a jet skiing excursion in Ada with friends, including Asamoah Gyan.
The incident has remained a haunting mystery, with the jet ski recovered but the bodies of Castro and his companion, Janet Bandu, never found despite extensive search efforts. Under Ghana’s Evidence Act, 1975, Castro is legally presumed dead, but Mr. Coffie Eshun’s refusal to accept this presumption highlights the enduring mystery and emotional turmoil surrounding the tragedy.
“I have not given up hope, my faith tells me that my son could still be alive,” Mr. Coffie Eshun said, his voice filled with emotion. “I suspect foul play, and I believe that one day, the truth will come out.”
