Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, has publicly declared his support for Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as the most influential leader in Ghana’s history. This comes in response to recent comments made by New Patriotic Party (NPP) vice-presidential candidate Mathew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, downplaying Nkrumah’s achievements.
NAPO had claimed that Nkrumah’s presidency was not exceptional and that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had done more for the nation’s progress and security since independence in 1957. However, A Plus joins a chorus of critics, including celebrities, in dismissing NAPO’s remarks as controversial and misguided.
In a video shared on his Facebook page, A Plus endorsed Kennedy Agyapong’s sentiments, which praised Nkrumah’s government for its unparalleled achievements. Agyapong, a prominent NPP member, stated, “I believe in Kwame Nkrumah… Everything he did for this country, he was over 200 years ahead of his peers and time.”
A Plus captioned the video “Kwame Nkrumah never dies!” and criticized the current government’s aggressive tactics in their ‘Break the 8’ campaign. His post suggests that Nkrumah’s legacy continues to inspire and influence Ghanaians, despite efforts to downplay his achievements.
