- Mahama urged voters to reject "corrupt, greedy, and arrogant" leadership of the NPP government
- Mahama outlined his priorities if elected
- Mahama pledged to investigate and hold accountable corrupt NPP officials
John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called upon voters to support him and his running mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
In a statement released on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, Mahama urged the electorate to reject what he described as the “corrupt, greedy, and arrogant” leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government. He emphasized the need for a change in leadership to address the socio-economic challenges facing Ghana.
“Uniting to build Ghana means rejecting the arrogance, corruption, and greed of the underperforming NPP administration, which has perpetuated economic hardship under the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government,” Mahama stated.
Highlighting his priorities, Mahama pledged to revitalize the economy, generate employment opportunities through initiatives like the 24-hour economy, and support women entrepreneurs with the establishment of a National Women’s Bank.
Critiquing the current administration for what he views as diminishing the office of the presidency and exacerbating national difficulties, Mahama expressed his determination to restore the dignity and prestige of the presidency if elected.
“I seek your vote to investigate and hold accountable corrupt NPP officials, eliminate burdensome taxes like the COVID and E-levies, abolish ex-gratia payments, and significantly reduce the size of government to a maximum of sixty ministers,” he affirmed.
“With your support, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang and I will bring back dignity, humility, vision, and experience to the presidency.”
Mahama concluded with a message of gratitude to voters who choose change on December 7th.
