The New Patriotic Party (NPP) officially introduced Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as “NAPO,” as the running mate to their flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for the upcoming 2024 general elections. The unveiling ceremony, held at the Jubilee Park in Kumasi on Tuesday, July 2024, was marked by excitement and jubilation.
One of the highlights of the event was a thrilling performance by renowned Ghanaian rapper, Guru. As he took the stage, the crowd erupted in cheers, with Dr. Bawumia and NAPO joining in the enthusiasm.
Guru, known in real life as Maradona Adjei, delivered a mesmerizing 15-minute performance, treating the audience to his hit songs, including “Obonsam Nim,” “Samba,” and “Lapaz Toyota.” The crowd’s excitement reached its peak when he sang the memorable line, “Odo me de car no be ma wo.”
This marks the second time Guru has performed at a ruling government event this year, following his appearance at Vice President Bawumia’s Youth Connect Series rally in June. In a surprising turn, Guru has also announced his intention to contest in the University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council elections.
