Brad Arthur Announced As New Leeds Rhinos Head Coach
- He takes reins until the end of the season.
- Arthur is expected to be in England imminently
- Leeds is 7th on the Super League table
The Leeds Rhinos have named Brad Arthur as their new head coach, taking the reins until the end of the current season.
The 50-year-old Australian arrives after a stint with the Parramatta Eels in the NRL, which concluded in May. Arthur’s appointment follows the Rhinos’ decision to part ways with Rohan Smith last month after a string of losses.
Arthur is expected to be in England imminently and is hopeful of attending the upcoming away game against Warrington on Thursday. He will collaborate with Scott Grix and Chev Walker, who have steered the team to back-to-back victories since taking over on an interim basis.
Currently, Leeds sits in seventh place on the Super League table, just two points shy of a coveted playoff spot. Arthur brings a decade of experience with the Parramatta Eels, having led them to the 2022 Grand Final. However, his tenure ended in May this year after a string of underwhelming performances.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the Rhinos and can’t wait to get stuck in,” Arthur expressed on the club’s website. “This presents a unique chance for me to develop as a coach. My objective is to contribute to raising the bar and expectations, while maintaining the current team spirit.”
