A disturbing incident has occurred in Barniekrom, Ahafo Ano South West District, Ashanti Region, where unknown individuals have set fire to the house of a fetish priest, Osman Majeed, who is accused of shooting and killing three people on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. According to reports, Osman Majeed, the fetish priest, allegedly shot dead three persons who he claimed attacked him. However, the suspect went into hiding after the incident and is still at large.
In an apparent reprisal attack, some unidentified persons have now set the house of the suspect ablaze, further escalating the tension in the area. Kingsley Asare, the assemblyman for Barniekrom electoral area, confirmed the incident to Channel One News, stating that although calm has been restored, they want the police to maintain a presence in the area to prevent further violence.
Asare revealed that the chief of the area informed him about the burning of Osman’s residence, which was confirmed by his unit committee members who visited the scene. The assemblyman reported that one of Osman’s buildings was burnt, and the incident has been officially reported to the police.
Despite the return to normalcy in the community, Asare believes that the security services should continue monitoring the situation to prevent any further incidents. In a related development, the police have arrested one person believed to be a friend of the suspect, Osman Majeed.
